Retrieving Diagnostic Trouble Codes

NOTE: To retrieve and clear codes, Lucas RTC 6834 Handheld Tester and Air Suspension Smart Card must be used. Follow manufacturer's instructions for use.

Diagnosis of air suspension should begin with a visual check of system's components for damage or leaks. Particular attention should be directed at the components mounted under the body (i.e. height sensors, air valve block, air lines, and air springs). After the visual inspection, Air Suspension ECU memory should be checked for stored fault information or codes using RTC 6834 handheld tester and air suspension smart card. The RTC 6834 handheld tester interfaces with system when it is connected at the Air Suspension Diagnostic Connector located under left front seat. If an air suspension fault is found recorded in ECU memory, proceed to STORED FAULT DIAGNOSIS and follow the diagnostic procedure directed for the stored fault. If no faults are recorded in ECU memory or the Air Suspension ECU cannot communicate with the handheld tester, follow the directed procedure for the symptom that most closely resembles symptom encountered. After a repair has been made, Air Suspension ECU memory should be cleared and a compare check of the system should be performed. If repair involved height sensor or ECU replacement, system should be calibrated using RTC 6834 handheld tester and air suspension smart card. See EAS SYSTEM CALIBRATION under PROGRAMMING.
