Repair Procedures: Adjustment

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
NOTE: Make sure to proceed compensate wear procedure referring to table below in case of a clutch actuator & TCM assembly or a clutch actuator replacement.
Replacement part Remedy
If only 'clutch actuator & TCM assembly' has been replaced Need to rewind rod length
If only 'dual clutch assembly' has been replaced Need to initialize rod length
If 'dual clutch assembly' and 'clutch actuator & TCM assembly' both have been replaced Not required
  1. Rewinding rod length (if replacing a clutch actuator & TCM assembly only)
    NOTE:
    • Make sure to perform rewinding rod length procedure if replacing a clutch actuator & TCM assembly only and reusing a dual clutch assembly.
    • This procedure is to adjust length of a new clutch actuator & TCM assembly rod as an old clutch actuator & TCM assembly rod length.
    1. Remove the clutch actuator & TCM assembly.

(Refer to Clutch Actuator & Assembly - "REMOVAL ")

    2. Measure and write down length of the old rod in condition of pulling clutch actuator rod.

Old rod length (A):  length from the base surface (C) to the end of the rod (B).

NOTE: Replace all of dual clutch assembly, clutch actuator and engagement bearing if the rod length is shorter than 52 mm (2.0472 in.)
    3. Measure and write down length of the new rod in condition of pulling clutch actuator rod.

New rod length (A):  length from the base surface (C) to the end of the rod (B).

    4. Remove the sealing rubber (A).

    5. Push actuator rods (A) from the tip and release when you see the nut bump (B).

      Information

      • Illuminate inside of the access hole and check the bump inside as shown on (B).
      • Repeat the operation if the nut bump (B) does not come down to the assembly hole position.
      • The nut bump (B) can be moved up a little by sealing boot if the pressing force is released.
    6. After inserting the SST (0K430-Q5300) into sealing rubber hole, adjust length of a new clutch actuator rod by rotating SST clockwise to the "old actuator rod length" which measured in procedure step 2.

Required number of rotation  =(Old rod length - New rod length)/0.25 mm (0.009 in)

Extend length of rod (+):  counterclockwise 1 rotation (+0.25 mm, +0.009 in)

Shorten length of rod (-):  clockwise 1 rotation (-0.25 mm, -0.009 in)

      Information

Perform same procedure on opposite side rod.

NOTE: The DCT transmission may not engage or have shift shock if the length of the new clutch actuator rod has not been properly adjusted as the old actuator rod using the measurements from step 2.
    7. Pull out the actuator rods (A) in the direction of arrow.

    8. Check if 'rod length of the clutch actuator', using with the adjusting jig with the rods pulled out, and 'rod length of the old clutch actuator', which is measured in step number 2, are same.
      1. Length from the base surface (C) to the end of the rod (B).

    9. Install sealing rubber (A).

    10. Install the clutch actuator & TCM assembly.

(Refer to Clutch actuator & assembly - "REMOVAL ")

  2. Rod length initialization (when replace only dual clutch assembly)
    NOTE:
    • Make sure to perform this procedure if replacing only dual clutch assembly but reusing clutch actuator & TCM assembly.
    • This procedure changes the adjustment of the existing clutch actuator & TCM assembly rod length to a new product rod length.
    1. Remove the clutch actuator & TCM assembly.

(Refer to Clutch Actuator & Assembly - "REMOVAL ")

    2. Measure and write down length of the old rod with the clutch actuator rod pulled (extended) out.

Old rod length (A):  length from the base surface (C) to the end of the rod (B).

    3. Remove the sealing rubber (A).

    4. Push the tip of the actuator rod (A) and release when you see the nut bump (B).

      Information

      • Illuminate inside the access hole to check the bump (B).
      • Repeat the operation if the nut bump (B) does not come down to the assembly hole position.
      • The nut bump (B) can be moved up a little by sealing boot if the pressing force is released.
    5. After inserting the SST (0K430-Q5300) into sealing rubber hole, adjust length of clutch actuator rod by rotating SST counterclockwise.

      Initialization length:  79 - 80 mm (3.1102 - 3.1496 in.)

Required number of rotation  =(Initialization length - Old rod length)/0.25 mm (0.009 in)

Extend length of rod (+):  counterclockwise 1 rotation (+0.25 mm, +0.009 in)

Shorten length of rod (-):  clockwise 1 rotation (-0.25 mm, -0.009 in)

      Information

Perform same procedure on opposite side rod.

      NOTE:
      • Make sure not to break any clutch actuator internal parts when using SST to rotate counter clockwise.
      • The DCT transmission gear may not engage or have shift shock if the rod length is not initialized to 79 - 80 mm (3.1102 - 3.1496 in.) when the initialization of compensate wear procedure.
    6. Pull the rod (A) in the direction of arrow.

    7. Check if 'clutch actuator rod length', which is finally done with adjustment, and 'clutch actuator rod initialization length' are same while pulling clutch actuator rod.
      1. Length from the base surface (C) to the end of the rod (B).

    8. Install the clutch actuator & TCM assembly.
