Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    WARNING:

    On vehicles equipped with the high voltage system, you must thoroughly read and follow all High Voltage Safety procedures. In addition, before performing any diagnostic or service procedure near a high voltage component, you must perform the High Voltage Power Down. Failure to follow these instructions may result in possible serious or fatal injury.

    Read the HIGH-VOLTAGE SAFETY PROCEDURES. Refer to  HIGH VOLTAGE SAFETY PROCEDURES  . 

    When the HIGH-VOLTAGE POWER-DOWN PROCEDURE is necessary. Refer to  HIGH VOLTAGE POWER DOWN  . 

    1. With the scan tool, read Battery Pack Control Module (BPCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, run a VSR (Vehicle Scan Report) and erase BPCM DTCs.
    3. Repair any related Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) DTCs before continuing.
    4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
      NOTE:

      Most BPCM DTCs will require the EVSE to be disconnected in order to clear.

    5. Using the recorded data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    6. With the scan tool, read BPCM DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

  2. CHECK THE (R414) AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT SIGNAL 2 CIRCUIT 
    1. Test the Air Bag Deployment Signal 2 circuit for an open, high resistance, short to ground or short to voltage condition.
    2. Check related terminals for fit and connection integrity.
    3. Repair any failure conditions.
    4. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    5. Using the recorded Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    6. With the scan tool, read BPCM DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Perform the BATTERY PACK CONTROL MODULE (BPCM) VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to HV VERIFICATION TEST .
      • Test complete.
