CHECK THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) SOFTWARE LEVEL

Turn the ignition on.
With the scan tool, verify that the PCM is operating at the latest software version available.
Check for and complete any Service Bulletins or PCM flash updates that may apply.
Were any Service Bulletins or PCM flash updates available for this condition?

Yes
- Make the appropriate repair.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace and program the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, POWERTRAIN CONTROL (PCM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
