Exhaust Manifold Heat Shield

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the turbocharger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVAL .

    NOTE:

    The exhaust manifold heat shield (1) and exhaust manifold gasket (3) are part of the same assembly. They cannot be reused and must be replaced.

  4. Remove the bolts (2). Remove and discard the exhaust manifold heat shield (1) complete with the turbocharger gasket (3).
