Insulator, Engine Mount, Rear: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. If equipped, remove the skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, SIDE, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the left front wheelhouse splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL .

  4. Remove the fastener (1) and remove the negative battery cable (2) from the transmission (3).
    CAUTION:

    Failure to remove the negative battery cable may overstress to the cable due to bending during service.

  5. Using a paint pen or marker, mark the location of the rear isolator (strut) on the front crossmember isolator (1).
  6. Take a reference dimension from the crossmember engine cradle to the powertrain to be used during reassembly.
  7. Support the powertrain with a suitable jack.
  8. Remove the rear insulator to cradle through bolt (2).

  9. Remove the rear insulator to engine mount bracket through bolt and nut (2).
  10. Position the engine forward to allow the rear insulator (1) to be removed from the vehicle.
  11. If required, remove the front crossmember isolator. Refer to ISOLATOR, FRONT CROSSMEMBER, TORSION, REMOVAL .
