Damper, Vibration: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the right front tire and wheel assembly and the front wheelhouse inner splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL .

  4. Install the (special tool #2054400090, Holder, Front Damper 4 Finger SHALLOW) (2) on the crankshaft damper (1) and loosen the damper bolt.

  5. Remove the bolt (3), washer (2) and the damper (1) from the crankshaft.

  6. There is a friction shim (1) attached to the front and rear of the crankshaft sprocket. Verify that the friction shim (1) is still in place on the front of the crankshaft sprocket.
