Diagnostic Test

- CHECK FOR INCORRECT GEAR RATIO (DTCS
- With the scan tool, read Transmission Control Module (TCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
Are any Incorrect Gear Ratio DTCs set?
Yes
- Repair Incorrect Gear Ratio DTCs. Refer to DTC INDEX (1 OF 2) and/or DTC INDEX (2 OF 2) .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 2
- With the scan tool, read Transmission Control Module (TCM) DTCs and record on the repair order.
- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
- With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 3
No
- Perform the TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to TESTING FOR AN INTERMITTENT CONDITION .
- CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID LEVEL
- Check the Transmission fluid level. Refer to CHECK FLUID LEVEL

Was the Transmission fluid level at the correct level?
Yes
- Using the schematics as a guide, check the TCM connector and all related in-line connector terminals for corrosion, damage, or pushed out terminals. Pay particular attention to the power and ground circuits. If no problems are found, replace and program the TCM in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to MODULE, TRANSMISSION CONTROL (TCM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Check transmission for leaks and repair in accordance with the Service Information.
- Fill Transmission to the proper fluid level. Refer to TRANSMISSION FILL AFTER SERVICE .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- Check the Transmission fluid level. Refer to CHECK FLUID LEVEL
