Diagnostic Test

- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR THE DTC TO RETURN
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
- For future reference, run and save a vehicle Scan Report and all related recorded data.
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 75.0 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the When Monitored and Set Conditions above and recorded data, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
- CHECK FOR OTHER DTCS
- Refer to the recorded DTCs.
Are there any 5-Volt Supply, Intake Swirl Valve Actuator, or other Position Sensor 2 DTCs active or pending?
Yes
- Perform the applicable diagnostic procedure(s). Refer to DTC INDEX (1 OF 2) and/or DTC INDEX (2 OF 2) .
No
- Go To 3
- Refer to the recorded DTCs.
- CHECK THE INTAKE SWIRL VALVE FOR PROPER OPERATION
- Replace the Intake Swirl Valve Position Sensor 2 in accordance with the Service Information.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Erase the DTC(s).
- Start the engine and allow it to idle for up to two minutes.
- Stop the engine. Leave the ignition on.
- Using the scan tool, actuate the Intake Swirl Valve.
- Using the scan tool, view active DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
NOTE:Before replacing the Intake Manifold, check for excessive buildup or coking in the Intake Manifold that may be causing the Intake Swirl Valve to stick or bind. Also inspect the jumper harness and connectors for damage. If any damage is found, replace the jumper harness.
- Replace the Intake Manifold in accordance with the Service Information.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 3.0L, POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test complete.
- Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 3.0L, POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
