Diagnostic Test

  1. CHECK FOR AN ACTIVE DTC 
    NOTE:

    Loose, disconnected or damage Active Grill Shutter (AGS) components are the most common cause for this DTC setting. It is important to check the physical condition and operation of all Active Grill Shutter components.

    NOTE:

    Inspect wiring and connectors for poor connection. A poor connection may cause the module to detect a mechanical stuck condition.

    1. Turn the ignition on.
    2. With the scan tool, read DTCs and record on the repair order.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    4. With the scan tool, perform the Active Grill Shutter test.
    5. With the scan tool, read DTCs.

      Is the DTC active or pending at this time?

      Yes 

      • Go To  2

      No 

      • Perform the INTERMITTENT CONDITION diagnostic procedure. Refer to INTERMITTENT DTC .
  2. CHECK THE ACTIVE GRILL SHUTTER OPERATION 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Visually inspect the Active Grill Shutter Assembly for the items listed but not limited to the following:
      • Dirt, ice or obstructions that could cause the Active Grill Shutter Assembly to bind causing linkage or shutters to become disconnected
      • Damaged or disconnected Active Grill Shutter Actuator linkages
      • Damaged Active Grill Shutter Assembly frame or shutters
      • Loose or missing Active Grill Shutter Actuator mounting bolts/retainers

      Were any problems found?

      Yes 

      • Repair as necessary. With the scan tool, perform the Active Grill Shutter test to validate repair(s).
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 3.0L, POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .

      No 

      • Replace the Active Grill Shutter Actuator in accordance with the Service Information. With the scan tool, perform the Active Grille Shutter Replaced procedure.
      • Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to 3.0L, POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST .
