Theory Of Operation

The Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) Module compares the steering wheel angle to vehicle inputs such as wheel speeds and acceleration to determine the steering wheel angle offset for accuracy. When the ABS Initialization routine is performed, the ABS Module will reset the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) data to a compensated value in the ABS Module until the vehicle drive test is completed. This DTC will set in the ABS Module when the actual steering angle data in the Electric Power Steering (EPS) Module compared to the ABS compensated steering angle data offsets differ by more than ±8° between one another. This fault can only be cleared after performing the ABS initialization. The actual steering angle sensor value data is displayed in the EPS Module.
