Oil Pan - AWD

REMOVAL 

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
3. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
4. Remove the oil filter and drain the engine oil. Refer to FILTER, ENGINE OIL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  .
5. Remove the right front splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

6. Remove bolts (1a) and the flywheel cover (1b).

7. Disconnect the PTU wire harness connector (1).

8. Remove the wiring duct bolt (1) from the PTU support bracket.
9. Remove the auxiliary water pump retaining collar bolt (2) and reposition the pump.

10. Remove the bolts (1) from the PTU support bracket.

11. Remove the PTU support bracket to oil pan bolts (1a).
12. Remove the PTU support bracket to crankcase bolt (1b).

13. Remove the bolts (1a) from the oil pan (1b).

14. Use the tool 187071800 (1a) to cut the sealant and remove the oil pan (1b).

15. Remove sealant residues from the oil pan flange (1).

16. Remove sealant residues from the engine flange (1).

INSTALLATION 

1. Clean the oil pan and engine block sealing surfaces with isopropyl alcohol in preparation for sealant application.
   CAUTION:

   Engine assembly requires the use of a unique sealant that is compatible with engine oil. Using a sealant other than Mopar® Threebond Engine RTV Sealant may result in engine fluid leakage.

   CAUTION:

   Following the application of Mopar® Threebond Engine RTV Sealant to the gasket surfaces, the components must be assembled within 10 minutes and the attaching fasteners must be tightened to specification within 45 minutes. Prolonged exposure to the air prior to assembly may result in engine fluid leakage.

2. Apply Mopar® Threebond Engine RTV Sealant to the oil pan sealing surface. The bead of sealant must be uninterrupted.

3. Install the oil pan (1b) and oil pan bolts (1a) hand tight.

4. Tighten the oil pan bolts in the sequence shown to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
5. Install the PTU support bracket and tighten the bolts to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
6. Refit the wiring duct on the PTU support bracket and securely tighten the bolt.
7. Position the auxiliary water pump in the mounting bracket and securely tighten the bolt.
8. Connect the PTU wire harness connector.

9. Install the dust shield (1a) and tighten the lower transmission bolts (1b) to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
10. Install the right front splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
11. Install the oil filter and fill the engine crankcase with the proper oil to the correct level. Refer to CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS .
12. Install the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
13. Connect the negative battery cable.
14. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
