Removal And Installation: Starter

REMOVAL 

1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
3. Remove the left side heat shield. Refer to SHIELD, HEAT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

4. Remove fasteners that secure the frame reinforcement brace.

5. Remove the starter heat shield bolts and remove the heat shield from the starter.

   2 - Starter Solenoid Wire Harness Connector

   3 - Starter

6. Disconnect the starter solenoid wire harness connector from the starter.
7. Remove the starter B+ nut from the starter.

8. Remove the two starter bolts from the starter and remove the starter from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION

1. Position the starter in the transmission bell housing and install the two starter bolts. Tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

2. Position the B+ cable on the starter solenoid stud. Install the starter B+ nut and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
3. Install the starter solenoid wire harness connector.

4. Position the heat shield for installation.
5. Install the two starter heat shield bolts and tighten to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .

6. Position the frame reinforcement brace into the vehicle.
7. Install the fasteners and tighten them to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
8. Install the left side heat shield. Refer to SHIELD, HEAT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
9. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
10. Connect the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT AND CONNECT .
