Fuel Tank

REMOVAL 

  1. Perform the fuel system pressure release procedure. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE  .
  2. Drain the fuel tank. Refer to DRAINING FUEL TANK  .
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  4. Remove the exhaust muffler. Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Remove the propeller shaft assembly. Refer to SHAFT, DRIVE, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or SHAFT, DRIVE, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  6. Disconnect the fuel vapor line quick connect fitting. Refer to QUICK CONNECT FITTINGS  .
  7. Loosen the filler tank filler tube hose clamp and disconnect the fuel tank filler tube hose from the fuel tank.
  8. Partially remove the left and right side belly pans for clearance. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  9. Disconnect the fuel supply line quick connect fitting. Refer to QUICK CONNECT FITTINGS  .
  10. Using a suitable hydraulic jack, support the fuel tank.

  11. Remove the fuel tank straps bolts.
  12. Using the hydraulic jack start to lower the fuel tank to gain access to the wire harness connector and vapor lines.

  13. Disconnect the fuel vapor tube quick connect fitting. Refer to QUICK CONNECT FITTINGS  .
  14. Disconnect the fuel vapor recirculation line quick connect fitting. Refer to QUICK CONNECT FITTINGS  .

  15. Disconnect the fuel pump module/level sensor wire harness connector.
  16. Lower the hydraulic jack and remove the fuel tank.
  17. If replacing the fuel tank, remove the heat shield push pin retainers and remove the heat shield.
  18. If replacing the fuel tank only, remove both fuel pump modules from the fuel tank. Refer to MODULE, FUEL PUMP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

INSTALLATION 

  1. If removed, install both fuel pump modules. Refer to MODULE, FUEL PUMP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  2. If removed, install the fuel tank heat shield and install the push pin retainers.
  3. Using a suitable hydraulic jack, raise and re-position the fuel tank for reconnecting the fuel lines and connectors.
  4. Connect the fuel pump module wire harness connectors.
  5. Connect the fuel vapor tube quick connect fitting. Refer to QUICK CONNECT FITTINGS  .
  6. Connect the fuel vapor recirculation line quick connect fitting. Refer to QUICK CONNECT FITTINGS  .
  7. Using a suitable hydraulic jack, raise the fuel tank into final position.
  8. Install the fuel tank straps bolts and tighten the fuel tank straps bolts to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  9. Remove the hydraulic jack.
  10. Connect the fuel supply line quick connect fittings. Refer to QUICK CONNECT FITTINGS  .
  11. Install the left and right side belly pans. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  12. Connect the fuel filler hose and tighten the hose clamp to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  .
  13. Connect the vent tube quick connect fitting. Refer to QUICK CONNECT FITTINGS  .
  14. Install the propeller shaft assembly. Refer to SHAFT, DRIVE, FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION or SHAFT, DRIVE, REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  15. Install the exhaust muffler. Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  16. Remove support and lower the vehicle.
  17. Fill the fuel tank.
  18. Start the engine and check for fuel leaks.
