Fuel System Pressure Release
WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
Use this procedure whether or not the fuel rail is equipped with a fuel pressure test port.
- Remove the Power Distribution Center (PDC) cover from the PDC housing base.
- Remove fuel pump fuse from the PDC.
- Start and run the engine until it stalls.
- Attempt restarting the engine until it will no longer start.
- Turn the ignition key to the OFF position.
1 - Quick Connect Fitting NOTE:Illustration is a generic view of a fuel rail quick connect fitting.
CAUTION:Before separating a Quick-Connect fitting, pay attention to what type of fitting is being used. This will prevent unnecessary fitting or fitting latch breakage.
NOTE:Excessive fuel spillage onto the gaskets can cause gaskets to expand and dislodge from gasket groove.
- Place a rag or towel below the fuel line quick-connect fitting at the fuel rail.
- Disconnect the fuel line quick-connect fitting at the fuel rail and plug with a shipping cap to prevent spillage. Refer to QUICK CONNECT FITTINGS .
NOTE:
One or more Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) may have been stored in the PCM memory due to disconnecting fuel pump module circuit. A diagnostic scan tool must be used to erase a DTC.
