Seat Back, Manual: Removal

WARNING:

Disable the airbag system before attempting any component diagnosis or service of the front seats, when equipped with front seat air bags. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.

  1. Remove the seat from the vehicle. Refer to REMOVAL  .
  2. Remove the seat side shields. Refer to SIDE SHIELDS, SEAT, POWER, REMOVAL .

  3. Under the seat cushion, unclip the wire harness (1) and disconnect the wire harness connectors (2).

  4. Disconnect and unclip the cable (1) from the seat back mechanism.
  5. Remove the bolts (2).

  6. Unclip the rod end (2) from the seat back mechanism.
  7. Disconnect and unclip the cable (3) from the seat back mechanism.
  8. Route the wire harness (5) from the seat.
  9. Remove the bolts (4), and remove the seat back (1).
  10. The inner side shields can now be removed if necessary.
  11. If necessary to service the seat back frame, remove the seat back cover. Refer to REMOVAL  .
