Diagnostic Test
- READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR DTC TO RETURN
- With the scan tool, read DTCs in all Electronic Control Units (ECUs) and record on the repair order.
- With the scan tool, run a vehicle Scan Report, or record the Environmental Data related to the DTCs.
- With the scan tool, erase all DTCs.
- Turn the ignition off for a minimum of 10.0 seconds.
- Turn the ignition on.
- Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- Go To 28
- CHECK TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH (TRS) OPERATION
- Turn the ignition on.
Shift Lever Position A (T42) B (T3) C (T1) PA (T4) P CLOSED OPEN OPEN CLOSED R CLOSED CLOSED OPEN OPEN N OPEN CLOSED OPEN CLOSED D OPEN CLOSED CLOSED OPEN Over-Travel (2L Position) CLOSED CLOSED CLOSED CLOSED NOTE:If all switch positions display Open, check the Transmission Range Switch (TRS) connector for proper installation, and the (F1) Ignition Unlock/Run/Start circuit for an open or short to ground.
With the scan tool, and observing the table above, shift through all Shifter gear positions.
Did all Shifter positions match the table above?
Yes
- Go To 28
No
- Go To 3
- Turn the ignition on.
- CHECK IF ALL OF THE TRS SWITCH POSITIONS DISPLAY OPEN
Did all of the switch positions display Open?
Yes
- Go To 4.
NO
- Go To 6.
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (F1) IGNITION OFF/RUN/START CONTROL OUTPUT TO TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH (TRS) CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE
- The ignition must be off when checking the continuity of a circuit.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and the component harness connector containing the circuit being tested. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Before measuring the resistance of any circuit, first measure the resistance between the two leads of the DVOM. Note: The meter leads can add resistance to the measurement value.
- Connect one lead of the DVOM to the circuit being tested at the component harness connector.
- Connect the other lead to the circuit being tested at the ECU harness connector and measure the resistance of the circuit.
NOTE:When probing a circuit at an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) harness connector, always use an appropriate back probing tool to prevent any possible damage to the ECU terminals.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 5
No
- Repair the circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (F1) IGNITION OFF/RUN/START CONTROL OUTPUT TO TRANSMISSION RANGE SWITCH (TRS) CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
- The ignition must be off when checking a circuit for continuity to ground.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and every component harness connector containing the circuit being tested. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Connect the negative lead of the DVOM to a known good ground.
- With the positive lead of the DVOM, probe the circuit being tested at the component harness connector and check for continuity between the circuit and ground.
NOTE:When probing a circuit at an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) harness connector, always use an appropriate back probing tool to prevent any possible damage to the ECU terminals.
NOTE:There should be no continuity between ground and the circuit being tested.
Is there continuity between ground and the circuit being tested?
Yes
- Repair the circuit for a short to ground. Use the wiring diagram as a guide to trace the circuit and look for any in-line connectors to help isolate the location of the short.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 6
- CHECK WIRING AND CONNECTIONS AT THE XY107A HARNESS CONNECTOR
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect and check the XY107A harness connector.
- Inspect the harness connectors and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
- Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit.
- Wiggle the wires while checking for shorted or open circuits.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 7
- CHECK FOR TRS SIGNAL CIRCUITS SHORTED TO ANOTHER CIRCUIT AT THE XY107A (TRANSMISSION SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the TRS harness connector.
- Check for continuity between the following circuits and all other circuits at the connector:
- A (T42) TRS T42 Signal
- B (T3) TRS T3 Signal
- C (T1) TRS T1 Signal
- PA (T4) TRS T4 Signal
Is there continuity between any of the TRS Signal circuits and any other circuit?
Yes
- Repair the identified TRS Signal circuit for a short to another circuit.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 8.
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T1) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE AT THE XY107A (TRANSMISSION SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking the continuity of a circuit.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the XY107A harness connector and every component harness connector containing the circuit being tested. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Before measuring the resistance of any circuit, first measure the resistance between the two leads of the DVOM. Note: The meter leads can add resistance to the measurement value.
- Connect one lead of the DVOM to the circuit being tested at the component harness connector.
- Connect the other lead to the circuit being tested at the XY107A (Transmission Side) harness and measure the resistance of the circuit.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 9
No
- Repair the circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T3) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE AT THE XY107A (TRANSMISSION SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking the continuity of a circuit.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the XY107A harness connector and every component harness connector containing the circuit being tested. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Before measuring the resistance of any circuit, first measure the resistance between the two leads of the DVOM. Note: The meter leads can add resistance to the measurement value.
- Connect one lead of the DVOM to the circuit being tested at the component harness connector.
- Connect the other lead to the circuit being tested at the XY107A (Transmission Side) harness and measure the resistance of the circuit.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 10
No
- Repair the circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T4) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE AT THE XY107A (TRANSMISSION SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking the continuity of a circuit.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the XY107A harness connector and every component harness connector containing the circuit being tested. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Before measuring the resistance of any circuit, first measure the resistance between the two leads of the DVOM. Note: The meter leads can add resistance to the measurement value.
- Connect one lead of the DVOM to the circuit being tested at the component harness connector.
- Connect the other lead to the circuit being tested at the XY107A (Transmission Side) harness and measure the resistance of the circuit.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 11
No
- Repair the circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T42) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE AT THE XY107A (TRANSMISSION SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking the continuity of a circuit.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the XY107A harness connector and every component harness connector containing the circuit being tested. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Before measuring the resistance of any circuit, first measure the resistance between the two leads of the DVOM. Note: The meter leads can add resistance to the measurement value.
- Connect one lead of the DVOM to the circuit being tested at the component harness connector.
- Connect the other lead to the circuit being tested at the XY107A (Transmission Side) harness and measure the resistance of the circuit.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 12
No
- Repair the circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T1) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND AT THE XY107A (TRANSMISSION SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking a circuit for continuity to ground.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the XY107A harness connector and every component harness connector containing the circuit being tested. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Connect the negative lead of the DVOM to a known good ground.
- With the positive lead of the DVOM, probe the circuit being tested at the XY107A (Transmission Side) harness and check for continuity between the circuit and ground.
NOTE:There should be no continuity between ground and the circuit being tested.
Is there continuity between ground and the circuit being tested?
Yes
- Repair the circuit for a short to ground. Use the wiring diagram as a guide to trace the circuit and look for any in-line connectors to help isolate the location of the short.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 13
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T3) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND AT THE XY107A (TRANSMISSION SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking a circuit for continuity to ground.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the XY107A harness connector and every component harness connector containing the circuit being tested. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Connect the negative lead of the DVOM to a known good ground.
- With the positive lead of the DVOM, probe the circuit being tested at the XY107A (Transmission Side) harness and check for continuity between the circuit and ground.
NOTE:There should be no continuity between ground and the circuit being tested.
Is there continuity between ground and the circuit being tested?
Yes
- Repair the circuit for a short to ground. Use the wiring diagram as a guide to trace the circuit and look for any in-line connectors to help isolate the location of the short.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 14
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T4) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND AT THE XY107A (TRANSMISSION SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking a circuit for continuity to ground.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the XY107A harness connector and every component harness connector containing the circuit being tested. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Connect the negative lead of the DVOM to a known good ground.
- With the positive lead of the DVOM, probe the circuit being tested at the XY107A (Transmission Side) harness and check for continuity between the circuit and ground.
NOTE:There should be no continuity between ground and the circuit being tested.
Is there continuity between ground and the circuit being tested?
Yes
- Repair the circuit for a short to ground. Use the wiring diagram as a guide to trace the circuit and look for any in-line connectors to help isolate the location of the short.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 15
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T42) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND AT THE XY107A (TRANSMISSION SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking a circuit for continuity to ground.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the XY107A harness connector and every component harness connector containing the circuit being tested. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Connect the negative lead of the DVOM to a known good ground.
- With the positive lead of the DVOM, probe the circuit being tested at the XY107A (Transmission Side) harness and check for continuity between the circuit and ground.
NOTE:There should be no continuity between ground and the circuit being tested.
Is there continuity between ground and the circuit being tested?
Yes
- Repair the circuit for a short to ground. Use the wiring diagram as a guide to trace the circuit and look for any in-line connectors to help isolate the location of the short.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 16
- CHECK FOR TRS SIGNALS CIRCUIT SHORTED TO VOLTAGE AT THE XY107A (TRANSMISSION SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the TRS harness connector.
- Check for voltage on the following circuits at the XY107A (Transmission Side) harness connector:
- A (T42) TRS T42 Signal
- B (T3) TRS T3 Signal
- C (T1) TRS T1 Signal
- PA (T4) TRS T4 Signal
Is there voltage found on any of the TRS Signal circuits?
Yes
- Repair the identified TRS Signal circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 17.
- CHECK FOR TRS SIGNALS CIRCUIT SHORTED TO ANOTHER CIRCUIT AT THE XY107A (TCM SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the TCM C1 and C2 harness connectors.
- Check for continuity between the following circuits and all other circuits at the XY107A (TCM side) harness connector:
- A (T42) TRS T42 Signal
- B (T3) TRS T3 Signal
- C (T1) TRS T1 Signal
- PA (T4) TRS T4 Signal
Is there continuity between any of the TRS Signal circuits and any other circuit?
Yes
- Repair the identified TRS Signal circuit for a short to another circuit.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 18.
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T1) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE AT THE XY107A (TCM SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking the continuity of a circuit.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and the XY107A harness connector. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Before measuring the resistance of any circuit, first measure the resistance between the two leads of the DVOM. Note: The meter leads can add resistance to the measurement value.
- Connect the other lead to the circuit being tested at the XY107A (TCM side) harness connector.
- Connect the other lead to the circuit being tested at the ECU harness connector and measure the resistance of the circuit.NOTE:
When probing a circuit at an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) harness connector, always use an appropriate back probing tool to prevent any possible damage to the ECU terminals.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 19
No
- Repair the circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T3) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE AT THE XY107A (TCM SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking the continuity of a circuit.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and the XY107A harness connector. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Before measuring the resistance of any circuit, first measure the resistance between the two leads of the DVOM. Note: The meter leads can add resistance to the measurement value.
- Connect the other lead to the circuit being tested at the XY107A (TCM side) harness connector.
- Connect the other lead to the circuit being tested at the ECU harness connector and measure the resistance of the circuit.NOTE:
When probing a circuit at an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) harness connector, always use an appropriate back probing tool to prevent any possible damage to the ECU terminals.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 20
No
- Repair the circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T4) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE AT THE XY107A (TCM SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking the continuity of a circuit.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and the XY107A harness connector. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Before measuring the resistance of any circuit, first measure the resistance between the two leads of the DVOM. Note: The meter leads can add resistance to the measurement value.
- Connect the other lead to the circuit being tested at the XY107A (TCM side) harness connector.
- Connect the other lead to the circuit being tested at the ECU harness connector and measure the resistance of the circuit.NOTE:
When probing a circuit at an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) harness connector, always use an appropriate back probing tool to prevent any possible damage to the ECU terminals.
Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 21
No
- Repair the circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T42) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN/HIGH RESISTANCE AT THE XY107A (TCM SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking the continuity of a circuit.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and the XY107A harness connector. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Before measuring the resistance of any circuit, first measure the resistance between the two leads of the DVOM. Note: The meter leads can add resistance to the measurement value.
- Connect the other lead to the circuit being tested at the XY107A (TCM side) harness connector.

Is the resistance below 3.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 22
No
- Repair the circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T1) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND AT THE XY107A (TCM SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking a circuit for continuity to ground.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and the XY107A harness connector. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Connect the negative lead of the DVOM to a known good ground.
- With the positive lead of the DVOM, probe the circuit being tested at the XY107A (TCM side) harness connector and check for continuity between the circuit and ground.
NOTE:There should be no continuity between ground and the circuit being tested.
Is there continuity between ground and the circuit being tested?
Yes
- Repair the circuit for a short to ground. Use the wiring diagram as a guide to trace the circuit and look for any in-line connectors to help isolate the location of the short.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 23
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T3) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND AT THE XY107A (TCM SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking a circuit for continuity to ground.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and the XY107A harness connector. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Connect the negative lead of the DVOM to a known good ground.
- With the positive lead of the DVOM, probe the circuit being tested at the XY107A (TCM side) harness connector and check for continuity between the circuit and ground.
NOTE:There should be no continuity between ground and the circuit being tested.
Is there continuity between ground and the circuit being tested?
Yes
- Repair the circuit for a short to ground. Use the wiring diagram as a guide to trace the circuit and look for any in-line connectors to help isolate the location of the short.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 24
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T4) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND AT THE XY107A (TCM SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking a circuit for continuity to ground.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and the XY107A harness connector. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Connect the negative lead of the DVOM to a known good ground.
- With the positive lead of the DVOM, probe the circuit being tested at the XY107A (TCM side) harness connector and check for continuity between the circuit and ground.
NOTE:There should be no continuity between ground and the circuit being tested.
Is there continuity between ground and the circuit being tested?
Yes
- Repair the circuit for a short to ground. Use the wiring diagram as a guide to trace the circuit and look for any in-line connectors to help isolate the location of the short.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 25
- ISOLATE AND CHECK THE (T42) TRS SWITCH SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND AT THE XY107A (TCM SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- The ignition must be off when checking a circuit for continuity to ground.
- Isolate the circuit by disconnecting the Electronic Control Unit (ECU) and the XY107A harness connector. Note: Use the wiring diagram as a guide to follow the path of the circuit.
- Connect the negative lead of the DVOM to a known good ground.
- With the positive lead of the DVOM, probe the circuit being tested at the XY107A (TCM side) harness connector and check for continuity between the circuit and ground.
NOTE:There should be no continuity between ground and the circuit being tested.
Is there continuity between ground and the circuit being tested?
Yes
- Repair the circuit for a short to ground. Use the wiring diagram as a guide to trace the circuit and look for any in-line connectors to help isolate the location of the short.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Go To 26
- CHECK FOR TRS SIGNAL CIRCUITS SHORTED TO VOLTAGE AT THE XY107A (TCM SIDE) HARNESS CONNECTOR
- Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect the TCM C1 and C2 harness connectors.
- Check for voltage on the following circuits at the XY107A (TCM side) harness connector:
- A (T42) TRS T42 Signal
- B (T3) TRS T43 Signal
- C (T1) TRS T1 Signal
- PA (T4) TRS T4 Signal
Is there voltage found on any of the TRS Signal circuits?
Yes
- Repair the identified TRS Signal circuit for a short to voltage.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Replace the TRS in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to SENSOR, TRANSMISSION RANGE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
DTC Returned after TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST.
- Go To 27
DTC did not return after TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST.
- Test complete.
- CHECK RELATED HARNESS CONNECTIONS
- Disconnect all TCM harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections.
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
Repair any conditions that are found.
- Reconnect all TCM harness connectors. Be certain that all harness connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all in-line harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- Reconnect all related component harness connectors. Be certain that all connectors are fully seated and the connector locks are fully engaged.
- With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
- Using the recorded Event and Environmental Data, along with the When Monitored and Set Conditions above, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
- With the scan tool, read TCM DTCs.
Did the DTC return?
Yes
- Replace the Transmission Control Module (TCM) in accordance with the Service information. Refer to MODULE, TRANSMISSION CONTROL (TCM), REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Test complete.
- CHECK WIRING AND XY107A CONNECTOR FOR INTERMITTENT CONNECTIONS NOTE:
The conditions necessary to set the DTC are not present at this time. The code set because of an intermittent condition. Try to determine the cause in this step.
Turn the ignition off.
- Disconnect all TCM harness connectors.
- Disconnect all related in-line harness connections.
- Disconnect the related component harness connectors.
- Inspect harness connectors, component connectors, and all male and female terminals for the following conditions:
- Proper connector installation.
- Damaged connector locks.
- Corrosion.
- Other signs of water intrusion.
- Weather seal damage (if equipped).
- Bent terminals.
- Terminals that have been pushed back into the connector cavity.
- Perform a terminal drag test on each connector terminal to verify proper terminal tension.
- Using the schematics as a guide, inspect the wiring and connectors specific to this circuit.
- Wiggle the wires while checking for shorted or open circuits.

Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
No
- Perform the TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to TRANSMISSION VERIFICATION TEST .
- Test complete.
