Water Pump: Removal

CAUTION:

Do not rotate the crankshaft using the damper bolt. The bolt has left-hand threads and can be inadvertently loosened resulting in loss of camshaft timing. Only rotate the damper itself in a clockwise direction (as viewed from the front).

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the engine cover.
  3. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL .
  4. Remove the both front wheelhouse splash shields. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the front fascia. Refer to FASCIA, FRONT, REMOVAL .
  6. Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING THE COOLING SYSTEM - 1.3L  .

  7. Release the retainer (1a) and position the hose (1b) aside.

  8. Release the retainer (1a) and position the hose (1b) aside.

  9. Remove the bolts (2) and the water pump cover (1).

  10. Remove the bolts (1a) and remove the water pump (1b).
