Removal And Installation: Installation

- Clean the gasket mating surfaces.
- Install a NEW
thermostat housing gasket (1).
- Rotate the loop clamp (1) clockwise at least 45° away from the thermostat mounting surface.
- Pull the intake manifold upper support bracket (1) slightly away from the engine and install the thermostat housing (2).
- Rotate the loop clamp (1) back into position against the thermostat housing flange.
- Install the thermostat housing bolts (1) hand tight.
- Install the fasteners (1a) to the intake manifold upper support bracket (1b) and tighten securely.
- Bend the loop clamp end tab (1a) and install the last thermostat bolt (1b). Tighten the thermostat housing bolts in a crisscross pattern to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS

- Install the degas hose (1) to the thermostat housing and connect the quick-connect fitting.
- Install the coolant hose to the thermostat housing and secure the quick-connect coupling (2).
- Connect and lock the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor wire harness connector (1).
- Install the radiator hose (1) to the thermostat housing and securely tighten the clamp.
- Install the battery tray and battery. Refer to TRAY, BATTERY, INSTALLATION .
- Fill the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING THE COOLING SYSTEM - 2.4L .
- Install the engine cover. Refer to COVER, ENGINE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Start engine and check for leaks.
- Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check the cooling system for correct fluid level. Refer to ADDING ADDITIONAL COOLANT .
