Removal And Installation: 1.3L: Removal

  1. Remove the battery tray. Refer to TRAY, BATTERY, REMOVAL .
  2. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  3. Remove the upper starter bolt (1a) and position wire harness bracket (1b) aside.
  4. Raise and support the vehicle.
  5. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL .
  6. Remove the splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL .
  7. If 4X4/AWD equipped, remove the axle shaft. Refer to FRONT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION and REAR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  8. Release the protective cover (1a) from the starter B+ wire harness connection.
  9. Disconnect the starter motor wire harness connector (2).
  10. Remove the nut (3) and disconnect the B+ electrical connection from the start motor (1b).

  11. Remove the lower starter bolt (1a).
  12. Remove the starter (1b).
