Park Detent And Manual Shaft Installation

  1. Insert the and park rod (1) into the park rod guide and the detent hub (2) into the transmission.

    NOTE:

    Shown with park rod removed for clarity.

  2. The park rod must go into the park rod guide opening (1).

  3. Inspect the condition of the manual shaft seal (1), replace if necessary.

  4. Insert the manual shaft (1) into the transmission housing and the detent hub and align the roll pin holes in the detent hub and the manual shaft.

  5. Install the roll pin (1) with a suitable pin punch (2) until flush with the detent hub.

  6. Position the detent spring (1) and tighten the screws (2) to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  7. Place the manual lever in position on the manual lever shaft.
  8. Install the nut to hold the manual shift lever to the manual shaft and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .

  9. Hold the release button (2) down while attaching the shifter cable end (1) to the manual lever (3).
  10. Install the valve body into the transmission. Refer to VALVE BODY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
