2 Wheel Drive: Installation

  1. With the tools used for removal, position the rear suspension crossmember (1a) and tighten the four bolts (1b) to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. Position the lower control arms, left side, and loosely install the bolts to the crossmember and rear knuckle.

  3. Place a suitable hydraulic lift (1) under the rear knuckle.
  4. Use the hydraulic lift (1) to raise the rear knuckle by about 95 mm (2.5 in).
  5. Tighten the bolt (2) attaching the rear lower control arm to the rear knuckle to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  6. The bolt securing the rear lower control arm to the crossmember will be tightened to torque specification during the toe-in alignment.

  7. Tighten the bolt (1) securing the front rear lower control arm to the front of the rear suspension crossmember to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  8. Tighten the bolt (2) securing the front rear lower control arm to the rear knuckle to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  9. Remove the hydraulic lift.
  10. Proceed in the same way to install the lower control arms on the right side.

  11. Connect the sway bar link to the stabilizer bar and install a NEW  nut (1) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
  12. Install the rear muffler. Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 1.3L or MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 2.4L .
  13. Install the rear wheels. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  14. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
  15. Perform wheel alignment. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
