2 Wheel Drive: Installation

- With the tools used for removal, position the rear suspension crossmember (1a) and tighten the four bolts (1b) to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Position the lower control arms, left side, and loosely install the bolts to the crossmember and rear knuckle.
- Place a suitable hydraulic lift (1) under the rear knuckle.
- Use the hydraulic lift (1) to raise the rear knuckle by about 95 mm (2.5 in).
- Tighten the bolt (2) attaching the rear lower control arm to the rear knuckle to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- The bolt securing the rear lower control arm to the crossmember will be tightened to torque specification during the toe-in alignment.
- Tighten the bolt (1) securing the front rear lower control arm to the front of the rear suspension crossmember to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Tighten the bolt (2) securing the front rear lower control arm to the rear knuckle to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Remove the hydraulic lift.
- Proceed in the same way to install the lower control arms on the right side.
- Connect the sway bar link to the stabilizer bar and install a NEW nut (1) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Install the rear muffler. Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 1.3L or MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION, 2.4L .
- Install the rear wheels. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
- Perform wheel alignment. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
