Removal And Installation: Removal
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
- Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .
- Remove the right engine mount isolator. Refer to INSULATOR, ENGINE MOUNT, RIGHT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the oil filter and drain the engine oil. Refer to FILTER, ENGINE OIL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Drain the engine coolant system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING THE COOLING SYSTEM - 1.3L .
- Remove the clean air hose. Refer to HOSE, CLEAN AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the generator. Refer to GENERATOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the oil pan and oil pump pick-up tube. Refer to PICK-UP, OIL PUMP, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the cylinder head cover. Refer to COVER(S), CYLINDER HEAD, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the accessory drive belt tensioner. Refer to TENSIONER, BELT, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the vibration damper. Refer to DAMPER, VIBRATION, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the water pump. Refer to PUMP, WATER, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the (special tool #2064000090, Locking, Pulley) tool from the timing cover.
- Remove the bolts (1a) and reposition the coolant pump inlet connector (1b).
- Remove the bolts (1a) and reposition the pipe protection duct (1b).
- Disconnect the wire harness connector (1a) from the engine oil pump displacement control solenoid (1b).
- Remove and discard the lower bolts (1a) from the timing cover (1b).
- Remove the bolt (1a) from the side reinforcement bracket (1b).
- Remove the retaining studs (1a) and reposition both right and left side linings (1b).
- Position the 2000040436 crossmember (1a) and support the engine crankcase (1b) appropriately.
- Remove the bolts (1a) and remove the right engine mount insulator (1b).
- Remove the bolt (1) from the intake manifold.
- Remove and discard the upper bolts (1a) from the timing cover (1b).
- Cut the sealant bead with a suitable tool and remove the timing cover (1b).
- Remove sealant residues (1) and check the integrity of the timing cover locating dowels.
