Removal And Installation: Removal

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  2. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  4. Remove the right front splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, FRONT WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  5. Drain the engine coolant system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING THE COOLING SYSTEM - 1.3L .
  6. Remove the air cleaner body. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL  .
  7. Remove the clean air hose. Refer to HOSE, CLEAN AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  .
  8. Remove the turbocharger outlet hose. Refer to COOLER AND HOSES, CHARGE AIR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION  .
  9. Remove the throttle body. Refer to THROTTLE BODY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  10. Remove the fuel rail. Refer to RAIL, FUEL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .

  11. Disconnect the quick couplings (1a) and remove the intake and outlet hoses (1b) from the air-water heat exchanger.
  12. Open the hose retaining clips (2).

  13. Disconnect the engine in-line wire harness connector (1).
  14. Release the wire harness retaining clips (2) on the intake manifold.

  15. Loosen the band clamp (1) and reposition the multi-way coolant inlet hose.
  16. Remove the lower bolt (2a) from the intake manifold (2b).
  17. Release the wiring retainer (3).

  18. Disconnect the quick connector (1) and remove the oil vapor pipe from the intake manifold.

  19. Disconnect the air temperature/pressure sensor wire harness connector (1).

  20. Disconnect the quick coupling (1) and remove the fuel supply pipe from the high pressure fuel pump.

  21. Disconnect the quick coupling (1) of the fuel vapor pipe.
  22. Release the fuel supply pipe (2a) from the retaining clip (2b).

  23. Disconnect the quick coupling (1a) of the fuel vapor pipes (1b).

  24. Disconnect the evaporator purge solenoid wire harness connector (1).
  25. Disconnect the quick coupling (2) of the vapor inlet pipe to the evaporator purge solenoid.

  26. Remove the bolts (1) and remove the bracket from the cylinder head cover.

  27. Disconnect the quick couplings (1a) and remove the coolant supply and return hoses (1b) from the heater core.

  28. Remove the nuts (1a) and separate the intermediate exhaust pipe (1b) from the catalytic converter flange.

  29. Position a suitable hydraulic lift under the gearbox.
  30. Remove the bolts (1) from the right engine mount insulator.
  31. Operate the hydraulic lift and lower the engine.

  32. Open the retaining clips and release the intake manifold pipes.
  33. Remove the bolts (1a) and the intake manifold (1b) with the evaporative purge solenoid attached.

  34. If required, remove the evaporative purge solenoid:
    • Open the band clamp (1a) and remove the fuel vapor pipe (1b).
    • Remove the bolts (2).
    • Release the pipes from the retainers (3a) and remove the fuel vapor solenoid valve (3b).

  35. Remove the seals (1a), (1b) and (1c) from the intake manifold.
