WARNING:
The normal operating temperature of the exhaust system is very high. Therefore, never work around or attempt to service any part of the exhaust system until it has cooled. Special care should be taken when working near the catalytic converter. The temperature of the converter rises to a high level after a short period of engine operation time.
- Remove the engine from the vehicle. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Remove the bolts and the engine oil dip stick tube.
- Remove the bolts (1) and the right exhaust manifold heat shield (2).
- Remove the generator and mounting bracket. Refer to GENERATOR, REMOVAL .
- Remove the EGR and cooler and manifold assembly. Refer to COOLER, EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR), REMOVAL
.
- Remove the nuts (1) and the Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) elbow (2) from the turbocharger.
- Remove the exhaust pressure sensor tube. Refer to SENSOR, EXHAUST PRESSURE, REMOVAL
.
- Remove the right exhaust manifold to turbocharger retaining nuts (1).
- Remove the nuts (1) and the right exhaust manifold (2).
