Left Cylinder Head

WARNING: This page is about a different variant/trim than selected.
  1. Remove the left side exhaust manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, EXHAUST, REMOVAL .
  2. Remove the intake manifold. Refer to MANIFOLD, INTAKE, REMOVAL .
  3. Remove the glow plugs.
  4. Remove the left side intake and exhaust camshafts. Refer to CAMSHAFT, ENGINE, REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the followers and tappets and note their original position.

  6. Remove the bolt (1) securing the coolant tube (2) to the back of the cylinder head.
  7. Remove the water pump housing assembly. Refer to PUMP, WATER, REMOVAL .

    NOTE:

    Do Not store the cylinder head on the sealing surface.

  8. Remove the bolts (1) and the cylinder head (2) from the engine block (5) and discard head bolts.
  9. Remove and discard the head gasket (3).
