Engine Oil Change

Change the engine oil at the mileage and time intervals described in the Maintenance Schedules. Refer to MAINTENANCE SCHEDULES, DESCRIPTION .
Run the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature.
- Remove the oil fill cap.
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the front skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, FRONT SUSPENSION REMOVAL .
- Place a suitable drain pan under the oil pan drain.
- Remove the drain plug from the oil pan and allow the oil to drain.
- Inspect the drain plug threads for stretching or other damage and replace if necessary.
- Install the drain plug and tighten to 27 N.m (20 ft. lbs.).
- Install the front skid plate. Refer to PLATE, SKID, FRONT SUSPENSION INSTALLATION .
- Lower the vehicle and fill the crankcase with the specified type and amount of engine oil described in this article.
- Install the oil fill cap.
- Start the engine and check for leaks.
- Stop the engine and check the oil level.
NOTE:
Care should be exercised when disposing of used engine oil.
