2.2L Diesel Secondary

  1. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL .
  3. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to DRAINING .
  4. Remove the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC)/Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) Refer to FILTER, DIESEL PARTICULATE, REMOVAL .
  5. Remove the serpentine belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL .
    NOTE:

    It is not necessary to discharge the A/C system.

  6. Remove the bolts and the AC compressor.
  7. Remove the low pressure EGR air flow control valve. Refer to VALVE, EXHAUST GAS RECIRCULATION (EGR) AIRFLOW CONTROL, REMOVAL .

  8. Disconnect the low pressure EGR cooler temperature sensor wire harness connector (1).
  9. Remove the right side Charge Air Cooler (CAC) hose. Refer to the appropriate service article.

  10. Loosen the upper camp and remove the EGR cooler inlet tube (1).

  11. Remove the nuts (1a) and the low pressure EGR cooler (1b).

  12. Remove and discard the gaskets seals (1).

  13. If necessary, remove the nuts (1a) the bolts (1b) and the EGR cooler manifold (1c).
