Diagnostic Test

VERIFY THE DTC IS ACTIVE
NOTE:
Diagnose and repair all other EPB DTCs before continuing with this diagnostic procedure.
1. Perform any Service Bulletins that may apply.
2. Turn the ignition on.
3. With the scan tool, record and erase the DTCs.
4. Cycle the ignition from off to on.
5. Press and hold the brake pedal.
6. Push the EPB Switch down to release the Electric Parking Brakes.
7. Pull the EPB Switch up to set the Electric Parking Brakes.
8. Push the EPB Switch down to release the Electric Parking Brakes.
9. Release the brake pedal.
10. Cycle the ignition from off to on.
11. With the scan tool, read EPB DTCs.
  Is the DTC active at this time?
  
  Yes
  - Go To 2
  No
  - The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension and repair as necessary. If no problems are found, test complete.
  - Perform the EPB VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
CHECK ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE ACTUATORS CONNECTOR/TERMINAL FOR DAMAGE
NOTE:
Check all terminals for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.
1. Turn the ignition off.
2. Inspect the harness and connectors for both Electric Parking Brake Actuators.
  Were any problems found?
  
  Yes
  - Repair as necessary.
  - Perform the EPB VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  No
  - Go To 3
CHECK THE ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE ACTUATORS
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. With the scan tool, perform the Apply Both Actuators routine.
3. With the scan tool, perform the Release Both Actuators routine.
4. With the scan tool, monitor the Status Parking Brake Left and the Status Parking Brake Right.
  Are both Parking Brake Actuators displaying the same result?
  
  Yes
  - Replace the Electric Parking Brake (EPB) Module in accordance with Service Information. Refer to MODULE, ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE (EPBM), REMOVAL .
  - Perform the EPB VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
  No
  - Replace the Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator at fault in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to ACTUATOR, ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE, REMOVAL .
  - Perform the EPB VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
