Diagnostic Test

- VERIFY THE DTC IS ACTIVE NOTE:
If any system supply voltage DTCs are present, repair them first before continuing with this diagnostic procedure.
- Turn the ignition on.
- With the scan tool, record and erase DTCs.
- With the scan tool, select "Apply Left Actuator" routine.
- With the scan tool, select "Release Left Actuator" routine.
- Cycle the ignition switch from off to on.
- With the scan tool, read EPB DTCs.
Is the DTC active at this time?
Yes
- Go To 2
No
- The condition or conditions that originally set this DTC are not present at this time. Using the wiring diagrams as a guide, check all related splices and connectors for signs of water intrusion, corrosion, pushed out or bent terminals, and correct pin tension and repair as necessary. If no problems are found, test complete.
- Perform the EPB VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- CHECK LEFT REAR ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR CONNECTOR/TERMINAL FOR DAMAGE NOTE:
Check all terminals for broken, bent, pushed out, or corroded terminals.
- Turn the ignition off.
- Inspect the Left Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator harness and connector.
- Inspect the Left Rear Brake Assembly for incorrect mounting or damage.
- Inspect the Left Rear Brake Assembly for correct operation.
Were any problems found?
Yes
- Repair as necessary.
- Perform the EPB VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 3
- (B63) LEFT EPB ACTUATOR CONTROL A CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
- Disconnect the EPB Module harness connector.
- Disconnect the Left Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator harness connector.
- Measure the resistance between the (B63) Left EPB Actuator Control A circuit and ground.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (B63) Left EPB Actuator Control A circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the EPB VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 4
- (B65) LEFT EPB ACTUATOR CONTROL B CIRCUIT SHORTED TO GROUND
- Measure the resistance between the (B65) Left EPB Actuator Control B circuit and ground.
Is the resistance below 5.0 Ohms?
Yes
- Repair the (B65) Left EPB Actuator Control B circuit for a short to ground.
- Perform the EPB VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Go To 5
- Measure the resistance between the (B65) Left EPB Actuator Control B circuit and ground.
- (B63) LEFT EPB ACTUATOR CONTROL A CIRCUIT OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE
- Measure the resistance of the (B63) Left EPB Actuator Control A circuit between the Left Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator harness connector and the EPB Module harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 6
No
- Repair the (B63) Left EPB Actuator Control A circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the EPB VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Measure the resistance of the (B63) Left EPB Actuator Control A circuit between the Left Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator harness connector and the EPB Module harness connector.
- (B65) LEFT EPB ACTUATOR CONTROL B CIRCUIT OPEN OR HIGH RESISTANCE
- Measure the resistance of the (B65) Left EPB Actuator Control B circuit between the Left Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator harness connector and the EPB Module harness connector.
Is the resistance below 5 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 7
No
- Repair the (B65) Left EPB Actuator Control B circuit for an open or high resistance.
- Perform the EPB VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Measure the resistance of the (B65) Left EPB Actuator Control B circuit between the Left Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator harness connector and the EPB Module harness connector.
- (B63) LEFT EPB ACTUATOR CONTROL A CIRCUIT SHORTED TO (B65) LEFT EPB ACTUATOR CONTROL B CIRCUIT
- Measure the resistance of the (B63) Left EPB Actuator Control A and the (B65) Left EPB Actuator Control B circuit at the Left Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator harness connector.
Is the resistance above 5 Ohms?
Yes
- Go To 8
No
- Repair the (B63) Right EPB Actuator Control A for a short to the (B65) Right EPB Actuator Control B circuit.
- Perform the EPB VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Measure the resistance of the (B63) Left EPB Actuator Control A and the (B65) Left EPB Actuator Control B circuit at the Left Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator harness connector.
- LEFT REAR ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE ACTUATOR
- Replace the Left Rear Electric Parking Brake Actuator in accordance with the Service Information. Refer to ACTUATOR, ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE, REMOVAL .
- Perform the EPB VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Turn the ignition to on.
- With the scan tool, erase EPB DTCs.
- With the scan tool, perform the Apply Left Actuator routine.
- With the scan tool, select "Release Left Actuator" routine.
- Cycle the ignition switch from off to on.
- With the scan tool, read EPB DTCs.
Does the DTC remain active?
Yes
- Replace the Electric Parking Brake (EPB) Module in accordance with Service Information. Refer to MODULE, ELECTRIC PARK BRAKE (EPBM), REMOVAL .
- Perform the EPB VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
No
- Test complete.
