Two Speed - Right

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Raise and support vehicle Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove rear knuckle Refer to KNUCKLE, REAR, REMOVAL

- Remove the axle shaft (1) from Rear Axle Differential.NOTE:
Tag the axle shaft shim for location.
- If equipped with two speed with locker, carefully remove the dust deflector using a slide hammer. If equipped with a two speed non locking differential, using (special tool #9585, Remover, Bearing Cup) (2) and (special tool #C-637, Slide Hammer, Universal) (3) remove the output shaft (1).
- If equipped with a two speed locking differential, pry the seal out with an appropriate screwdriver being careful not to damage the seal bore. If equipped with a two speed non locking differential, remove the output shaft seal (1) using (special tool #7794-A, Remover, Seal) (2) and (special tool #C-637, Slide Hammer, Universal) (3).NOTE:

- Clean and inspect the sealing surface on the output shaft, if damaged install a NEW output shaft. If the pinion seal bore is damaged it will be necessary to replace the Differential, Rear Axle assembly.
