Two Speed - Left

- Clean and inspect the sealing surface on the output shaft. If the seal surface is damaged install a NEW
output shaft. If the pinion seal bore is damaged it will be necessary to replace the RDU.
- Measure the diameter of the output shaft where indicated (1) using a suitable micrometer (2), if the diameter measures less than 29.95 mm (1.1791 in.), install a new output shaft.
- Install the output seal (1) onto (special tool #10117, Installer, Seal) (2).
- Install the output seal using (1). (special tool #10117, Installer, Seal)
- Install the output shaft into the RDU.NOTE:
Always use (special tool #9099, Seal Protector, Differential Output)when installing shaft into RDU. If Seal Protector is new, split at the seam before using.
- Install a new circlip (2) onto output shaft (1).
- Install the axle shaft shim on the hub end of the shaft.NOTE:
Use care when installing halfshaft to RDU. The halfshaft installation angle should be minimized to avoid damage to the seal upon installation.
NOTE:Lightly apply a light grease to the splines prior to installing halfshaft.
- Install the axle shaft (2) onto the output shaft.NOTE:
Be sure the axle shaft is installed fully into circlip.
- Install the rear knuckle Refer to KNUCKLE, REAR, INSTALLATION .
- Fill the differential fluid. Refer to FLUID, DIFFERENTIAL, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector to the negative battery cable.
