Removal - Condenser

Review the warnings and cautions for this system before performing the procedure. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or death.
CAUTION:
Before removing the A/C condenser, note the location of each of the radiator/condenser air seals. These air seals are used to direct air through the A/C condenser and radiator. The air seals must be reinstalled in their proper locations in order for the A/C and engine cooling systems to perform as designed.
- Recover the refrigerant from the refrigerant system. Refer to PLUMBING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Partially remove the radiator.
Refer to RADIATOR, ENGINE COOLING, REMOVAL .
NOTE:It is not necessary to remove coolant hoses or to drain cooling system.
- Remove the transmission oil cooler if equipped and move to the side.
Refer to COOLER, TRANSMISSION OIL, REMOVAL .
NOTE:The transmission oil cooler lines do not need to be disconnected.
- Disconnect the liquid (3) and the discharge (2) jumper lines from the condenser.
- Remove and discard the washer seals and install plugs in, or tape over the opened refrigerant line fittings and ports.
- Remove the condenser from the vehicle.
