Front Outer Air Outlets

WARNING:
Disable the airbag system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable and wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.
Left Side
- Remove the steering column opening cover. Refer to COVER, STEERING COLUMN OPENING, REMOVAL

- Remove the air outlet to instrument panel screw (2). Disengage the two lower retaining tabs behind the instrument panel (1).
- Using trim stick or equivalent, carefully disengage the two top and two side retaining tabs (1) that secure the air outlet to the instrument panel.
- After the retaining tabs have been disengaged, gently pull out the air outlet and remove the air outlet from the instrument panel.
Right Side
- Remove the glovebox. Refer to GLOVE BOX, INSTRUMENT PANEL .
- Remove the instrument panel end cap. Refer to CAP, INSTRUMENT PANEL END, REMOVAL

- Remove the three lower instrument panel screws (1) and the two behind the end cap. Carefully disengage the lower instrument panel (2) from the carrier frame.
- Gently pull back the lower instrument panel to gain enough access to remove the air outlet to instrument panel screw (1).
- While holding the lower instrument panel (3) out, remove the air outlet (2) as shown in above procedure.
