Camshaft Sprocket

  1. Remove the timing chain cover. Refer to REMOVAL  .
  2. Inspect the timing chain for stretching prior to removal. Refer to INSPECTION  .
  3. Position the number one cylinder piston to top-dead-center on the compression stroke.

  4. Hold the camshaft stationary by the wrench flats (1).

  5. Remove the camshaft center bolt (1) from the sprocket (2).
  6. Once the sprocket is clear of the alignment dowel, lower the sprocket to allow chain to slacken, then remove the chain from the sprocket.
  7. Remove the sprocket from the engine.
