Manifold, Exhaust: Installation

  1. Install a new exhaust manifold gasket DO NOT APPLY SEALER  .
  2. Install the exhaust maniverter and tighten the NEW  bolts and nuts finger tight.

  3. Using the tighten sequence shown, tighten the bolts and nuts to 34 N.m (25 ft. lbs.).
  4. Install the heat shields (2) and tighten the three nuts to 12 N.m (8 ft. lbs.).

  5. Install the two lower heat shield bolts (3) and tighten to 12 N.m (8 ft. lbs.).
  6. Connect the down stream oxygen sensor wire harness connectors (1).

  7. Connect the upstream oxygen sensors wire harness connectors (2) and attach the wire to the retainer (3).
  8. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE - HOISTING .
  9. Install the maniverter lower support bracket and tighten three bolts to 20 N.m (15 ft. lbs.).
  10. Using a NEW  gasket, connect the exhaust crossunder pipe (2) to the maniverter outlet flange and tighten the two nuts (1) to 19 N..m (14 ft. lbs.).

  11. Install the bolt (3) securing the crossunder pipe to transmission and tighten to 20 N.m (15 ft. lbs.).
  12. Install the belly pan. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  13. Remove the support and lower the vehicle.

  14. Install the engine cover (1).
  15. Install the air cleaner resonator. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  16. Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector to the negative battery cable.
