Section 27 (Vehicle Theft Security (Service Information)): Siren: Installation

NOTE:
If the alarm siren module has been replaced with a new unit, a diagnostic scan tool MUST be used to initialize and configure the new unit in the Body Control Module (BCM) before the Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS) can operate as designed. Follow the programming steps outlined in the diagnostic scan tool for INITIALIZE SIREN under MISCELLANEOUS FUNCTIONS for the BODY CONTROL MODULE/BCM menu item as appropriate.
- Position the alarm siren module (3) to the engine compartment side of the Front End Module (FEM) carrier (2), below the upper radiator cross member (1) between the right side of the cooling module and the back of the right front lamp unit housing.
- From the front of the FEM carrier, install and tighten the nut that secures the siren to the FEM carrier located between the right side of the cooling module and the right front lamp unit housing. Tighten the nut to 6 N.m (53 in. lbs.).
- Install the appearance shield onto the upper radiator cross member.
- Connect the FEM wire harness connector (4) to the connector receptacle of the siren.
- Install the engine air cleaner housing into the right side of the engine compartment. Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, INSTALLATION .
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
