Section 26 (Starting System (Service Information)): Starter: Removal: 2.4L

- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Loosen the upper starter bolt (1).NOTE:
The bolt will not be able to be removed due to lack of clearance.
- If the vehicle is equipped with AWD, remove the intake manifold assembly Refer to MANIFOLD, INTAKE, REMOVAL, 2.4L

- Remove the 12 volt feed cable (1).
- Disconnect the ignition feed connector.
- Remove the lower starter bolt (3).
- Remove the starter (4) from the block (5).
