Side Shields, Seat, Manual: Removal

WARNING:
Disable the airbag system before attempting any component diagnosis or service of the front seats, when equipped with front seat air bags. Disconnect and isolate the negative battery (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the airbag system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the airbag system. Failure to follow these instructions may result in accidental airbag deployment and possible serious or fatal injury.
NOTE:
To remove the inner side shields, the seat back must be removed first. Refer to SEAT BACK, POWER, REMOVAL .
- Before proceeding with the following repair procedure, review all warnings and cautions. Refer to SEATS, REAR, WARNING .
- Remove the front seat. Refer to SEAT, REAR, REMOVAL .
- Remove the recline and lift handles. Refer to HANDLE, FRONT RECLINER, REMOVAL .
- Remove the inner cover (1) at the rear of the side shield, then remove the two screws (2).
- Separate the inner side shield (4) from the outer side shield (1).NOTE:
To remove the inner side shields, the seat back must be removed first. Refer to SEAT BACK, POWER, REMOVAL .
- Pull outward at the bottom to release the clips (2), then lift at the rear to release the rear hook retainer, then slide forward to remove it from the front hook retainer (3).
- For inboard side shield first remove the front seat. Refer to SEAT, REAR, REMOVAL .
- Remove the inner cover (2) at the rear of the side shield, then remove the two screws (1).
- Remove the screws (1) and unclip the harness (2) from the side shield.
- Separate the inner side shield, then lift upward and remove the side shield (3).
