Section 17 (Charging System (Service Information)): Generator: Removal: 3.2L

- Perform the fuel system pressure release. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Remove the air filter housing body (1). Refer to BODY, AIR CLEANER, REMOVAL .
- Raise and support the vehicle.
- Remove the right side front wheel.
- Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to BELT, SERPENTINE, REMOVAL
.
- Remove the air intake inlet tube (2).
- Raise the vehicle.
- Remove the belly pan (1).NOTE:
The A/C compressor bolts are removed to allow for extra clearance for the generator to pass between the upper and lower frame.
- Remove the A/C compressor bolts.
- Disconnect the field generator harness connector (1).
- Remove the B+ cable (3) from the generator.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Using a suitable jack. Support the engine.
- Remove the upper engine mount bolts to engine mount bracket (2, 3).
- Remove the fuel line (2) at the fuel rail.
- If equipped, remove the two bolts (1) and remove the drip tray.
- Remove the lower generator mounting bolt (3).
- Remove the top two generator mounting bolts (1).
- Carefully remove the generator (1) between the upper and lower frame rail (2).
