Tank, Fuel: Removal: AWD

WARNING:
The fuel system is under constant pressure even with engine OFF. Until the fuel pressure has been properly relieved from the system, do not attempt to open the fuel system.
- Release the fuel system pressure. Refer to FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE RELEASE PROCEDURE .
- Drain fuel tank. Refer to DRAINING FUEL TANK .
- Remove exhaust system muffler. Refer to MUFFLER, EXHAUST, REMOVAL .
- Remove rear propshaft. Refer to REMOVAL .
- Remove one bolt (1), two nuts (3) and splash shield (2).
- Disconnect the fuel pump module quick connect fitting (2) from the body mounted fuel line bundle. Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT .
- Disconnect the purge line quick connect fitting (1) from the body mounted fuel line bundle. Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT .
- Disconnect the purge line quick connect fitting (2) from the fuel tank connection. Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT

NOTE:
The fuel fill tube vent line quick connect fitting (3) is located at the rear of the fuel tank (1) near the parking brake cable (2).
- Disconnect the fuel fill tube vent line (3) and remove from the fuel tank quick connect fitting. Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT

1 - Fuel Tank 2 - Strap Bolts 3 - Straps WARNING:Support the fuel tank with a transmission jack or equivalent. Use straps to secure the fuel tank to the jack. Failure to properly support and secure the fuel tank during removal may cause fuel to spill or the fuel tank to fall from the jack.
- Use a transmission jack to support fuel tank (1), remove fuel tank strap bolts (2) and straps (3).
- Partially lower tank to gain access to pump module and fuel level sensor electrical connectors.
- Disconnect electrical connector (1) at fuel pump module (2).
- Continue lowering tank for removal.
- If fuel tank is to be replaced, remove fuel pump module from tank. Refer to MODULE, FUEL PUMP, REMOVAL

1 - Fuel Tank Shield 2 - Fuel Tank - If fuel tank is to be replaced, remove three fasteners and fuel tank shield (1) from fuel tank (2).
