Housing-Air Inlet

NOTE:

LHD model with A/C shown in illustrations. RHD and heater-only models similar.

NOTE:

If a rubber seal on the recirculation-air door is deformed or damaged, the door must be replaced.

  1. Carefully install the recirculation-air door (2) through the top of the air inlet housing (1). Pinch the two ends (3) of the door together and align the pivot shafts of the door to the pivot shaft holes in the air inlet housing.

    NOTE:

    Install the recirculation door pivot shaft adapter by carefully pushing it straight into the end of the recirculation door pivot shaft.

  2. Install the recirculation door pivot shaft adapter (3) into the right side of the recirculation-air door. Make sure the adapter is fully engaged to the door.
  3. Position the recirculation-air screen (4) to the air inlet housing (2) and engage all the retaining tabs (1). Make sure the retaining tabs are fully engaged to the housing.

  4. Install the recirculation door actuator (3) onto the right side of the air inlet housing (2). If necessary, rotate the actuator slightly to align the splines of the actuator output shaft with those on the recirculation door pivot shaft adapter.
  5. Install the two screws (1) that secure the recirculation door actuator to the air inlet housing. Tighten the screws to 1.2 N.m (10 in. lbs.).

    NOTE:

    If the foam seal on top of the air inlet housing is deformed or damaged, the seal must be replaced.

  6. Position the foam seal and plate assembly (3) to the top of the air inlet housing (2) and engage all the retaining tabs (1). Make sure the retaining tabs are fully engaged to the housing.

  7. Install the air inlet housing (2) onto the HVAC housing (1). Refer to HOUSING-AIR INLET, INSTALL .
  8. Install the HVAC housing assembly. Refer to HOUSING-HVAC, INSTALL .
