Diagnostic Procedure

NOTE:
Refer to VERIFICATION TESTS
for appropriate verification test procedures.
- Turn the ignition off.
Disconnect the PCM harness connectors.
CAUTION: DO NOT PROBE THE PCM HARNESS CONNECTORS. PROBING THE PCM HARNESS CONNECTORS WILL DAMAGE THE PCM TERMINALS RESULTING IN POOR TERMINAL TO PIN CONNECTION. INSTALL MILLER SPECIAL TOOL #8815 TO PERFORM DIAGNOSIS.Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the PCM Fused B+ circuits in the appropriate terminals of special tool #8815.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
- Yes --> Go To 2
- No --> Repair the open in the Fused B+ circuit(s). Inspect the related fuses and repair as necessary.
- Ignition on, engine not running.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe the PCM Fused Ignition Switch Output circuits in the appropriate terminals of special tool #8815.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
- Yes --> Go To 3
- No --> Repair the open in the Fused Ignition Switch Output circuit(s). Inspect the related fuses and and repair as necessary.
- Turn the ignition off.CAUTION: DO NOT PROBE THE PCM HARNESS CONNECTORS. PROBING THE PCM HARNESS CONNECTORS WILL DAMAGE THE PCM TERMINALS RESULTING IN POOR TERMINAL TO PIN CONNECTION. INSTALL MILLER SPECIAL TOOL #8815 TO PERFORM DIAGNOSIS.
Using a 12-volt test light connected to battery voltage, probe the PCM ground circuits in the appropriate terminals of special tool #8815.
Does the test light illuminate brightly?
- Yes --> Test Complete.
- No --> Repair the open in the PCM ground circuit(s).

DO NOT PROBE THE PCM HARNESS CONNECTORS. PROBING THE PCM HARNESS CONNECTORS WILL DAMAGE THE PCM TERMINALS RESULTING IN POOR TERMINAL TO PIN CONNECTION. INSTALL MILLER SPECIAL TOOL #8815 TO PERFORM DIAGNOSIS.
