Crankshaft Oil Seal - Front: Installation

CAUTION:
Do Not use a hammer to install the crankshaft oil seal.
NOTE:
To prevent potential oil leaks, DO NOT touch the front crankshaft inner seal. Always handle the seal from the outer diameter.
- Clean engine block and front engine cover sealing surfaces.
- Install crankshaft oil seal on VM.1061. See Fig 1.
- Place sleeve for VM.1061 on press bench as shown. See Fig 1.
1 - VM.1061 2 - FRONT ENGINE COVER 3 - PRESS BENCH 4 - SLEEVE FROM VM.1061 - Position VM.1061 and press in new seal into front engine cover. See Fig 1.
1 - ENGINE BLOCK 2 - FRONT ENGINE COVER 3 - VM.1061 - Install front engine cover on engine using VM 101 as a guide, care must be take not to damage the seal. See Fig 2.
1 - SPECIAL TOOL # 6958 2 - WRENCH - Install crankshaft hub and retaining bolt. Torque bolt to 304 N.m. See Fig 3.
- Install timing belt inner cover (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/TIMING BELT/CHAIN COVER(S) - INSTALLATION) .NOTE: Crankshaft must be rotated to 90 degrees ATDC (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING - STANDARD PROCEDURE) .
- Install timing belt (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/TIMING BELT/CHAIN AND SPROCKETS - INSTALLATION) .
- Install timing belt outer cover (Refer to ENGINE/VALVE TIMING/TIMING BELT/CHAIN COVER(S) - INSTALLATION) .
- Install vibration damper (Refer to ENGINE/ENGINE BLOCK/VIBRATION DAMPER - INSTALLATION) .
- Install cooling fan support (Refer to COOLING/ENGINE/RADIATOR FAN - REMOVAL) .
- Install accessory drive belt (Refer to COOLING/ACCESSORY DRIVE/DRIVE BELTS - INSTALLATION) .
- Install cooling fan and fan drive viscous clutch assembly. Refer to RADIATOR - FAN - VISCOUS .
- Connect negative battery cable.
