Test 2C: No Response From ACM

NOTE: Prior to performing any air bag system test, go to PRETEST INSPECTION & DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  under DIAGNOSTICS. Perform TEST VER-1: AIR BAG VERIFICATION TEST  after all repairs unless otherwise directed.
Air Bag Control Module (ACM) harness connectors C1 and C2 are identical, except for wire colors and terminal usage. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  1. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING SYSTEM  under DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM. Access Air Bag Control Module (ACM) and disconnect harness connector C2. See AIR BAG CONTROL MODULE (ACM)  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Connect appropriate SRS load tool adapter to ACM harness connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. Using 12-volt test light connected to ground, probe ACM RUN and RUN/START circuits at ACM connector C2, terminals No. 16 (Dark Blue/Yellow wire) and No. 24 (Light Green/Yellow wire). See Figure . If test light illuminates at both terminals, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate at both terminals, repair open in appropriate circuit. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  .
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect negative battery cable and wait 2 minutes. Measure resistance between ground and ACM connector terminal C2, No. 17 (Black/Pink wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open circuit in Black/Pink wire between ACM connector C1 and ground.
    3. NOTE: Ensure there is Programmable Communications Interface (PCI) bus communications with other vehicle control modules. Diagnose and resolve any PCI bus malfunctions before proceeding to next step.
  3. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Connect negative battery cable. Using Scope Input Cable (CH7058), connect scope input cable to DRBIII channel one connector. Using Cable-to-Probe Adapter (CH7062) and Red and Black test probes, connect cable-to-probe adapter and Red and Black test probes to scope input cable. On DRBIII select PEP MODULE TOOLS, LAB SCOPE, LIVE DATA and 12 VOLT SQUARE WAVE. Press F2 for scope and ENTER to select channel. Press F2 and use down arrow to set voltage range to 20 volts. Set probe to X10. Press F2 when voltage range and probe are set. Connect Black test probe to body ground. Connect Red test probe to ACM connector C1, terminal No. 23 (Yellow/Violet/Orange wire). If voltage reading on DRBIII display pulses from 0-7.5 volts, replace ACM. If voltage reading on DRBIII display does not pulse from 0-7.5 volts, repair open circuit in Yellow/Violet/Orange wire (PCI bus).
