Removal & Installation: CLOCKSPRING: Installation

- If clockspring position has moved or unsure of clockspring position, perform clockspring centering procedure prior to installing clockspring. See CLOCKSPRING CENTERING under ADJUSTMENTS. NEW clocksprings are shipped pre-centered with a locking pin installed. DO NOT remove pin until clockspring has been installed on steering column. If locking pin is removed before clockspring is installed on a steering column, clockspring centering procedure must be performed.
- Slide centered clockspring down steering column upper shaft. Align and seat 3 pins on clockspring rotor hub with 3 holes in turn signal cancel cam (oblong pin should be at top of clockspring rotor). See Fig 1 . Align and seat one pin and 2 mounting holes with corresponding holes in combination switch. Install 2 clockspring retaining screws and tighten retaining screws to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
- To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Tighten fasteners to specification. DO NOT connect battery at this time. Check for proper system function. See SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK .
