Test 5B: Left Front Outlet Valve
NOTE:
Perform TEST 5A
before proceeding.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect HCU 10-pin connector. Inspect all terminals and ensure connector is clean and not damaged. Repair as necessary. If connector and terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect HCU 10-pin connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between HCU connector (component side) terminals No. 1 and 9. If resistance is 3-5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is not 3-5 ohms, replace HCU.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect HCU 10-pin connector. Measure resistance between HCU connector (component side) terminal No. 9 and terminals No. 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8. If resistance is 5 ohms or more between all terminals, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms between any terminals, replace HCU.
- Measure resistance between HCU connector (component side) terminal No. 9 and ground. If resistance is 150 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 150 ohms, replace HCU.
- Disconnect CAB connectors. Inspect connectors for corroded, damaged or backed-out terminal pins. Repair as necessary. If connectors and terminals are okay, go to next step.
- Measure resistance between CAB connector C2, terminal No. 8 and terminals 4, 6, 12, 15 and 18. If resistance is 150 ohms or more between all terminals, go to next step. If resistance is less than 150 ohms between any terminals, repair left front outlet valve circuit (Dark Green/Black wire) for short to other circuit(s).
- With HCU connector still disconnected, remove main relay. Measure resistance between CAB connector C2, terminals No. 5 and 8. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair left front outlet valve control circuit (Dark Green/Black wire) for short to main relay output (reference) circuit.
- Reinstall main relay. Measure resistance between CAB connector C2, terminals No. 8 and 13. If resistance is 150 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 150 ohms, repair outlet valve control circuit (Dark Green/Black wire) for short to ground circuit.
- Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and CAB connector C2, terminal No. 8. If no voltage is present, go to next step. If any voltage is present, repair left front outlet valve control circuit (Dark Green/Black wire) for short to battery voltage.
- Turn ignition off. Reconnect HCU harness connector. Turn ignition on. Connect a fused jumper wire between CAB connector C2, terminals No. 11 and 13 (supplies voltage to valves). Go to next step.
- Measure voltage between ground and CAB connector C2, terminal No. 8. If voltage is more than 10 volts, replace CAB. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in left front outlet valve circuit (Dark Green/Black wire).
- Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, read DTCs. Inspect wiring harness and connectors of HCU circuit. While an assistant observes scan tool display, wiggle harness from CAB to HCU. If any DTCs appeared, repair as necessary. If no DTCs appear, test is complete.
