Removal & Installation

  1. Before proceeding, See AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Open glove box door. While supporting glove box door with one hand, grasp check strap and slide rolled end of strap out of slot in edge of door. Lower door far enough to disengage hinge hook formations on door from hinge pins on instrument panel. Remove glove box assembly.
  2. Reach through glove box opening and disconnect Light Gray 4-pin and Yellow 2-pin PAD switch connectors. Connectors are attached to bracket located on outboard glove box opening reinforcement. Disengage PAD switch wire harness from retainer clip located on plenum bracket supporting A-C-heater housing.
  3. Remove retaining screws and remove center console from vehicle. From underside of console, remove 3 PAD switch retaining screws and remove PAD switch from bezel.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. DO NOT connect negative battery cable at this time. Go to AIR BAG SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK.
