Test TC-169A - Governor Pressure Sensor Offset Volts Too Low Or Too High (DTC 45/P1762)

CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE: For connector terminal identification, you should refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . You should also perform the VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
  1. Start engine and allow it to reach operating temperature. Measure transmission fluid level and condition. Correct transmission fluid level or condition as necessary. If transmission fluid level and condition are okay, go to next step.
  2. Check Park Neutral (P/N) switch operation. Repair P/N switch as necessary. If P/N switch operation is okay, go to next step.
  3. Put gear selector in Neutral. Using scan tool, read GOV PRESSURE voltage. If voltage is not 0.30-0.76 volt, go to step 5). If voltage is 0.30-0.76 volt, go to next step.
  4. Condition required to set DTC is not present at this time. GOV PRESS SENS VOLTS TOO LOW or TOO HIGH DTC sets if governor pressure sensor input is less than or more than a predetermined P/N switch calibration for 1.32 seconds under predetermined conditions. Possible causes are: defective governor pressure sensor, shorted or open 5-volt supply circuit, or defective powertrain control module. Test is complete. Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A .
  5. Turn ignition off. Disconnect transmission solenoid connector. Inspect connector and terminals for damage. Repair connector and terminals as necessary. If connector and terminals are okay, go to next step.
  6. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal No. 2 on transmission solenoid connector. If voltage is less than 5 volts, repair open 5-volt supply circuit. If voltage is 5 volts or more, go to next step.
  7. Turn ignition off. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, measure resistance at terminal No. 3 on transmission solenoid connector. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open ground circuit. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  8. Drain and remove transmission pan. Using scan tool, perform OHM TEST on internal transmission wiring harness. Repair wiring harness as necessary. If wiring harness is okay, replace governor pressure sensor.
