Test TC-168B - Governor Pressure Sensor Volts Too High

CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
NOTE: Perform TEST TC-168A  before proceeding. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For appropriate wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS . Perform VERIFICATION TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
  1. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector (White). Inspect connector and terminals for damage. Repair connector and terminals as necessary. If connector and terminals are okay, go to next step.
  2. Start engine. Using an external voltmeter, measure voltage between ground and terminal No. 4 on transmission solenoid connector. If voltage is more than 4.65 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not more than 4.65 volts, replace PCM.
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect remaining PCM connectors. Disconnect transmission solenoid connector. Measure resistance between terminal No. 4 on transmission solenoid connector and terminal No. 29 on PCM connector (White). If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open governor pressure sensor signal circuit.
  4. Measure resistance between terminal No. 3 on transmission solenoid connector and terminal No. 4 on PCM connector (Black). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair open in sensor ground circuit. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition on. Measure the voltage at the governor pressure signal circuit terminal No. 29 on PCM connector (White). If voltage is more than one volt, repair the governor pressure sensor signal circuit for a short to power. If voltage is one volt or less, go to next step.
  6. Remove transmission oil pan. Disconnect pressure/temperature sensor connector. Inspect connector and terminals for damage. Repair connector and terminals as necessary. Reconnect solenoid connector. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage of governor pressure signal circuit between terminal No. 29 on PCM connector (White) and terminal "B" on governor pressure sensor. If voltage is more than one volt, replace transmission harness/solenoid assembly. If voltage is one volt or less, go to next step.
  7. Turn ignition off. Measure resistance of the governor pressure sensor signal circuit between terminal No. 29 on PCM connector (White) to terminal "B" on governor pressure sensor connector. If resistance is 5.0 ohms or less, go to next step. If resistance is more than 5.0 ohms, replace transmission harness/solenoid assembly.
  8. Measure resistance of the sensor ground circuit between PCM connector terminal No. 4 and terminal "D" on governor pressure sensor connector. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace transmission harness/solenoid assembly. If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace pressure/temperature sensor.
